WhatsApp is trying out new ways to protect its users, especially the kids who can be exploited by suspicious people or even scammers on the messaging app. And soon the platform could enable parents to help minimise those risks by giving them better control on the activity of their kids on the social media app.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The feature is being developed in-house and highlighted by tipster WaBetaInfo<\/em>, the beta users should be getting the support gradually. Social media activities are hard to track but WhatsApp intends to help parents who can track their kids better.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The tipster has shared the details about the parent controls on WhatsApp and how it plans to keep the data safe and not readable for anyone. This is most likely going to work for users under 18 years which is where the parental guidance will be helpful. WhatsApp is working on the primary controls that will have access to the secondary account where the kids\u2019 usage will be tracked.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The tipster has shared a clip with the upcoming feature and gives the details about what people can see, and what the parents\/primary account user can track or do. As you can see here, WhatsApp assures that primary account users can only get updates about your chat and account activity.<\/span><\/p>\n

They can also change the account privacy settings which could prevent them from clicking on dangerous links or even chatting with unknown people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the safety of the kids, they can only message and call the people who are saved on the contact list and vice versa. The parents can also limit the people who can see the profile picture of their kids, their last seen and about details.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WhatsApp is heavily used and its end-to-end encryption makes sure that nobody can read the content, not even the platform. We are eager to see how tools like these are fully integrated and whether they actually bring value and not work against the whole point of keeping the youth safe. <\/span><\/p>\n
