WhatsApp is further going down the Facebook rabbit hole which means more features are making their way to the messaging app. And the latest is linked to the option of putting a profile cover photo that everyone can see for your account. The platform has been testing the beta in Android for a while and now iOS users are also getting the option, still in the beta version.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WhatsApp users have relied on profile photos to help people identify their messages but bringing a cover photo just adds another Meta-like element to the platform that we\u2019re not sure if users really want or asked for.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The feature is being tested within the beta-sphere for now but its public rollout cannot be ruled out in the next few months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WhatsApp Cover Photo Feature: What It Offers<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As you would expect, the cover photo option will be available within the profile settings for users. The details shared by WaBetaInfo<\/em> has hinted the cover photo will cover the profile photo and adds further level of personalisation on the messaging app. We\u2019ve seen this on apps like Facebook, LinkedIn and even X (formerly Twitter).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The size of the cover photo is wider and bigger than the profile photo and you can add any visual to match the personality or mood. The tipster has even shared how the cover photo feature will work on WhatsApp and you can make it visible to everyone, my contacts or block its access to everybody. The feature will be available in settings \u2013 privacy tab of the messaging app.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WhatsApp has offered cover photos for the Business profiles earlier and bringing this feature for all users is just part of an extension that works across all Meta products these days. We will be seeing more Meta influence on the platform this year as well and more AI integrations also likely.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The platform has started 2026 with focus on group chats. One of them is member tags. WhatsApp claims this has been a highly requested feature which lets you identify other members in the group. The platform is also bringing custom text stickers and early event reminders for these users and here\u2019s how they can help millions. <\/span><\/p>\n
