Maharashtra\u2019s Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar said that workers of both factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) want to come together and that differences within the family have been resolved.<\/p>\n

Speaking to NDTV in an exclusive interview, Pawar said, \u201cThe workers of both parties want to unite. The two NCPs are together now. All tensions in our family have ended.”<\/p>\n

Ajit Pawar also said that his faction retained the NCP\u2019s party name and the \u2018clock\u2019 symbol, while Sharad Pawar\u2019s group was allotted a new name, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), and a new symbol, the trumpet.<\/p>\n

The two factions have decided to join forces for the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation election.<\/p>\n

The Nationalist Congress Party, founded by Sharad Pawar, split two years ago after a rebellion led by his nephew Ajit Pawar. The faction headed by Ajit Pawar later joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with Ajit Pawar assuming office as Deputy Chief Minister.<\/p>\n

Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule, Sharad Pawar\u2019s daughter and Ajit Pawar\u2019s cousin, also told NDTV that the two NCP factions have come together for the Pimpri-Chinchwad polls at the request of party workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere has been no discussion on whether this alliance with Ajit Pawar will continue,” she said.<\/p>\n

Sule also dismissed the rumours of NCP (SP) joining Maharashtra\u2019s BJP-led government and her taking charge as a minister. \u201cLet those who are happy with such rumours talk about them,” she said.<\/p>\n

Ajit Pawar also addressed other issues, including the controversy surrounding a land deal linked to his son, Parth Pawar.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe didn\u2019t give a single rupee. We also didn\u2019t buy any land,” Ajit Pawar said.<\/p>\n

The deputy chief minister showed no concern of any political threat, on the patch-up between MNS chief Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena\u2019s (UBT) Uddhav Thackeray. He trashed the Raj Thackeray factor as inconsequential to the upcoming election to the Mumbai civic agency, the country\u2019s richest municipal body.<\/p>\n

\u201cRaj Thackeray\u2019s speech is like a mimicry show; it gives entertainment for a short time, but nothing can be achieved with it. Both Raj and Uddhav will not be successful,” Ajit Pawar told NDTV.<\/p>\n
