As Siddaramaiah is set to complete a record tenure and become the longest-serving Chief Minister of Karnataka, he asserted his confidence in completing a full term. However, he stated that the decision rests with the high command.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no particular desire to break records. This is only a coincidence. Devaraj Urs\u2019 era was different, and my era is different,” Siddaramaiah said.<\/p>\n

Siddaramaiah said he had become Chief Minister with the blessings of the people, and that serving the people gives him happiness. \u201cThere is inequality in society. Until that inequality is removed and justice is ensured for everyone, I will continue to fight,” he added.<\/p>\n

Notably, Siddaramaiah is set to become the longest-serving Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday, surpassing the record of former CM Devaraj Urs, who served for 2,792 days (7 years and 239 days).<\/p>\n

Shivakumar Congratulates Siddaramaiah<\/h4>\n

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar congratulated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as he is about to complete a record tenure, saying it is a proud moment and that the veteran Congress leader will continue to remain in the history books.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a happy moment. I wish him well. Everyone has an ambition to achieve in life. He has been in the history books in the past, and he will be (there) in the future too,” Shivakumar told reporters, referring to Siddaramaiah surpassing the record of Devaraj Urs on Wednesday and becoming the longest-serving chief minister of Karnataka.<\/p>\n

The development came amid the ongoing\u00a0power tussle between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar over the top post in the southern state. It intensified in mid-November, after the Congress government touched the halfway mark in its tenure.<\/p>\n
