Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday attacked the Trinamool Congress government led by Mamata Banerjee, alleging that the last 15 years of TMC rule in West Bengal has been marked by corruption, fear and infiltration.<\/p>\n

Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Shah said, \u201cThis is a crucial period for Bengal, from now until April, when the state will head into Assembly elections. Over the last 15 years of TMC rule, Bengal has witnessed fear, corruption and misgovernance. Infiltration has created a sense of insecurity and anxiety among the people.”<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to corruption under the Mamata Banerjee-led government in the state, development in West Bengal has stopped,” Shah said, adding, \u201cAll beneficial schemes started by Modi ji have become victims of the toll syndicate here. Fear and corruption have become West Bengal\u2019s identity for the last 14 years.”<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter April 15 2026, when the BJP government is formed in West Bengal, we will start the revival of Bengal\u2019s heritage and culture. This \u2018Banga Bhoomi\u2019 holds great importance for us because the BJP was formed by Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who was a big leader from here,” he added.<\/p>\n

Amit Shah Attacks Mamata Govt Over Infiltration<\/h4>\n

Attacking the Mamata Banerjee-led government for supporting infiltration, Shah said, \u201cIt is the West Bengal government which is not allotting land to establish border fencing along Bangladesh. Can the Chief Minister answer why infiltration has stopped at the borders of Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir and Gujarat? It is because, in West Bengal, infiltration occurs under your watch to bring about demographic change and strengthen your votes.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next election will be fought on the issues of stopping infiltration and removing infiltrators from here. Infiltration happening from the Bengal border is an issue of national security,” he added.<\/p>\n

Amit Shah Explains Numbers<\/h4>\n

Asserting his confidence in the BJP\u2019s victory in the upcoming polls in Bengal, the Union Home Minister said, \u201cIn 2026, the BJP will form a government with two-third majority in West Bengal. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP got 17 percent votes and two seats. Our party got 10 percent votes and three Assembly seats in 2016 Assembly elections.”<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP got 41 percent votes and 18 seats. The party got 21 percent votes and 77 seats in the 2021 Assembly elections. The party, which got 3 seats in 2016, got 77 seats in a span of five years. Meanwhile, Congress reached zero. The Communist alliance could not get even one seat. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP secured 39 percent votes and 12 seats. In 2026, BJP will form the government with a majority in West Bengal,” he added.<\/p>\n
