The messaging app will soon make the feature compatible for wearables as well with a new option being tested with iOS users in the beta avatar.

WhatsApp is no longer limited to phones or PCs but you have a wide range of devices where the app can assist you with notifications or even call alerts on the wrist. This feature could become further effective when WhatsApp makes its way to smart glasses in the near future.

WhatsApp Connected Device Support: What Changes Now

WhatsApp users have the Linked Devices option in the settings but as shared by tipster WaBetaInfo, the platform will have a new Peripherals option that tells you what other devices are using the WhatsApp account.

As you can see here, the iOS beta tests have started and the new option will be part of the Linked Devices section with a new tab Peripherals placed below the regular tab. WhatsApp will not only show you the device name but also shows you how long WhatsApp was active on the wearable.

It is quite possible that peripherals will also include other devices like smart glasses, something that could easily become the next hub for WhatsApp to link devices and see your texts and call alerts. The test for the new feature is currently limited to the TestFlight version but expect more iOS users and gradually Android users get the option rolling out with their respective beta versions in the next few months.

India’s premier cybersecurity agency, CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team), has issued a high-severity advisory regarding a critical vulnerability in WhatsApp’s device-linking feature. Dubbed “GhostPairing”, the exploit allows malicious actors to take “complete” control of a user’s WhatsApp account without needing a password, an OTP, or a physical SIM swap.

By leveraging this flaw, attackers can gain real-time access to a victim’s entire chat history, including sensitive photos, videos, voice notes, and live messages on the web version of the platform.

The sequence typically begins with a deceptive message sent from a “trusted” contact—whose account has likely already been compromised. The message often uses an enticing hook, such as “Hi, check this photo of you”, accompanied by a link that displays a Facebook-style preview to build immediate trust.

Location :

Delhi, India, India

First Published:

December 24, 2025, 13:51 IST

News tech WhatsApp Will Soon Make It Easier For Users To See Their Connected Smartwatch

Disclaimer: Comments reflect users’ views, not News18’s.
