BJP\u2019s Union minister Giriraj Singh was seen standing in support of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is facing massive criticism after he was seen pulling down the hijab of a woman and exposing her face at a public event.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s wrong with what he did?” Singh hit back at the reporters when asked to comment on the matter. \u201cIf one has come to take an appointment letter, why should she be scared of showing her face? Don\u2019t you have to show your face when you go to vote?” he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nitish Kumar sparked a massive controversy after he was seen pulling down the veil of a woman doctor wearing hijab during an event to distribute appointment letters to over 1,200 AYUSH doctors on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the opposition <\/span>Rashtriya<\/span> Janata Dal and the Congress attacked the Chief Minister over his actions and questioned his mental health, the Janata Dal United struggled to explain the situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kumar\u2019s party colleague and the Minority Welfare Minister Zama Khan said, \u201cNitish ji just showed love to a Muslim daughter. He wanted society to see the face of the girl after she became successful in life”. <\/span><\/p>\n

Accusing the Opposition and Muslim leaders of trying to defame the Chief Minister, he said those criticising him must know that he has given the country\u2019s daughters the utmost respect. <\/span><\/p>\n

Next, NDA ally Nishad party leader and Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad piled on the outrage with his crass comment defending Kumar. <\/span>Nishad questioned what would have happened if Kumar had \u201ctouched somewhere else”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Arey<\/span>, <\/span>woh<\/span> bhi<\/span> toh<\/span> aadmi<\/span> hain<\/span> na<\/span>, <\/span>peeche<\/span> nahi<\/span> padna<\/span> chahiye<\/span>. <\/span>Naqab<\/span> chhoo<\/span> diya<\/span> toh<\/span> itna<\/span> ho <\/span>gaya<\/span>\u2026<\/span>kahin<\/span> aur <\/span>chhoo<\/span> dete<\/span> toh<\/span> kya<\/span> ho <\/span>jaata<\/span> (He is a man being after all. One should not hound him like this. If touching the \u2018hijab\u2019 caused such an uproar, what would have happened if he had touched elsewhere),” he had told Bharat Samachar.<\/span><\/p>\n
