Indian Test captain Shubman Gill has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month for July 2025, along with South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder and England Test captain Ben Stokes. All three cricketers earned nominations following their exploits in red-ball cricket last month<\/p>\n

Shubman Gill had a terrific month leading India in the 5-match Test series against England in the United Kingdom. The newly-appointed Test captain ended the series with 754 runs in 5 matches, scoring 567 runs in the first three matches held in July 2025. He ended up winning the Player of the Series award for Team India.<\/p>\n

His consistency at No.4, carrying on the baton from all-time great Virat Kohli, provided stability and flair in equal measure, and combined with his extraordinary captaincy in his debut series. Gill\u2019s ability to convert starts into big scores, when wickets fell early on under pressure, was vital to India mounting comebacks on multiple instances.<\/p>\n

Gill\u2019s English counterpart in the series, Ben Stokes, too, had some terrific outings against India before missing out on the final Test at The Oval. He scored 251 runs at an average of 50.20 and took 12 wickets at 26.33, delivering in high-pressure situations with both bat and ball.<\/p>\n

Stokes was named Player of the Match in back-to-back Tests \u2013 first at Lord\u2019s, where his all-round showing secured England a commanding win, and then at Manchester, where he took 5-72 and scored a counter-attacking 141.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder produced a historic all-round display in the two-Test series against Zimbabwe. He amassed 531 runs at a staggering average of 265.50, highlighted by a composed 147 in the second innings of the opening Test. But the real headline came in the second Test at Bulawayo, where Mulder, captaining South Africa for the first time in Tests, hammered an unbeaten 367 \u2014 the highest individual score in the country\u2019s Test history.<\/p>\n

He made his presence felt with the ball as well, picking up seven wickets at an impressive average of 15.28, including a four-wicket haul in the series opener.<\/p>\n
