New Delhi: Starlink on Monday clarified that a \u201cconfiguration glitch” briefly caused incorrect India-specific pricing to appear on its website, stressing that the figures were merely placeholder test data and not the actual cost of its satellite internet service for the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier on Monday, Starlink\u2019s India webpage appeared to go live, displaying a monthly subscription price of \u20b98,600 and a \u20b934,000 hardware kit requirement for new users. The listing quickly went viral, prompting speculation that the company had quietly opened orders in India.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lauren Dreyer, Vice President and Senior Director of Starlink Business Operations at SpaceX, addressed the confusion on X, saying:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Starlink India website is not live, service pricing for customers in India has not yet been announced, and we are not taking orders.”<\/span><\/p>\n

She added that a configuration issue had briefly exposed dummy data:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThose numbers do not reflect what the cost of Starlink service will be in India. The glitch was quickly fixed.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Dreyer said Starlink remains committed to launching its high-speed satellite internet in India and is currently working to secure the final government approvals needed to activate both the service and the website.<\/span><\/p>\n

Starlink, known for its plug-and-play installation, 99.9% uptime, weather resilience and no data caps, has been positioning itself as a solution for users in remote and underserved regions where traditional broadband remains unreliable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Signs of an impending India rollout have strengthened in recent months. In October, SpaceX opened four Bengaluru-based roles: Payments Manager, Accounting Manager, Senior Treasury Analyst, and Tax Manager as part of its global expansion strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Maharashtra has moved ahead with plans to collaborate with Starlink. The state government recently signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited to deploy satellite internet across remote districts, including Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Dharashiv and Washim. The agreement, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and IT Minister Ashish Shelar, makes Maharashtra the first Indian state to partner with Starlink formally.<\/span><\/p>\n

Welcoming Starlink\u2019s leadership to Mumbai, CM Fadnavis wrote on X:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is our honour that the company is arriving in India and partnering with Maharashtra.”<\/span><\/p>\n
