People who bought the iPhone 17 Pro or the 17 Pro Max this year have been dealt a massive shock. Reports say one of the popular features on the iPhone camera is missing front the latest iPhone models. The camera app for iPhone has been consistently delivering the same interface with new additions that cater to the improved hardware.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So ideally any of the advanced camera tools coming to iPhone 17 Pro should work across the lineup. However, the recent development suggests this camera feature works on every model since the iPhone 12 Pro except for the 17 Pros.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Apple Says No To Night Shots?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The new update from Macworld<\/em> suggests iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max users cannot shoot in night mode if they use the Portrait mode in the camera app. It is surprising in many ways because Apple has offered this feature since the iPhone 12 Pro launched in 2020.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The company has made this change official which has been pointed out in the iOS 26 iPhone user guide, quoted in the report, where Apple has said that night mode in portrait only works if you have the iPhone 12 Pro or later models, up to last year\u2019s iPhone 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max version.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You would assume that the new phones will get better features with the latest hardware and continue to support the older tools. But in this case, Apple seems to have removed the older feature for the newer iPhone 17 Pro series and we have no clarity about this change or why Apple has made this decision which to be fair is quite puzzling. <\/span><\/p>\n

Will it ever work on the iPhone 17 Pro? Only Apple can answer these questions and hopefully we do hear more on this matter soon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While this subject lingers on, Apple could be gearing up for a busy start to 2026 with multiple launches planned. iPhone 17e is launching early next year and Apple is keen to give it the right upgrades so that it doesn\u2019t fall into the same impact (or lack of) like its predecessor. <\/span><\/p>\n

A new leak suggests the iPhone 17e will look more like the iPhone 17 model albeit with some limitations to keep the launch price much lower.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This means the wide notch from the iPhone 16e could give way for the Dynamic Island which allows you to get live updates for delivery and cabs, along with other tasks like music playback. The sales of the iPhone 16e have been below par as per multiple reports, so upgrades are vital for the next version to succeed. <\/span><\/p>\n
