How do you win a toss?<\/p>\n

The Indian men\u2019s cricket team must be ruing their wretched luck after losing another ODI toss for the 20th time in a row. It\u2019s a rarest of rare occurrence. The probability of it happening? 1 in 1,048,576 i.e. 0.00000095!<\/p>\n

Phew.<\/p>\n

And yet it has happened. And unfortunately, India have been at the receiving end of it. Nothing has worked \u2013 new captain, different opponent, a fresh venue, bilateral series or a multi-nation tournament.\u00a0 So, how can they overcome the jinx?<\/p>\n

Well, it seems nobody has the answer and for good reason. It\u2019s pure luck which, for the time being, isn\u2019t on India\u2019s side. KL Rahul, the India stand-in captain for the ongoing bilateral series, admitted as much on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, that\u2019s the most pressure I\u2019ve had because we haven\u2019t won a toss in a long time. I\u2019ve been practicing, but clearly, it\u2019s not working,” quipped Rahul.<\/p>\n

Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar was also surprised and noted how preparation for toss won\u2019t make any difference.<\/p>\n

\u201cRahul explained that. He said that he\u2019d been practicing. But how do you know what the opposition captain is going to call? For the first ODI, it was Aiden Markram who was (South Africa) captain. So Markram might be a person who likes opting for \u2018heads\u2019, and Temba Bavuma might be a captain who like to opt for \u2018tails\u2019. So how do you, how do you even try, even if you want to manipulate?” Gavaskar wondered.<\/p>\n
