The Trinamool Congress suffered a major defeat in the Kolkata High Court Club elections, as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won seven out of 10 seats, including the positions of president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, joint vice-president and one joint secretary seat.<\/p>\n

The BJP gained a decisive advantage due to vote splitting between the TMC and independent candidates. Initially, TMC\u2019s Sanjib Da campaigned for the secretary post, but the party later replaced him and nominated Bishwabrata Basu Mallik.<\/p>\n

In a last-minute change, Mallik withdrew his nomination. As a result, the secretary post saw a direct contest between the BJP and an Independent candidate, where the saffron party prevailed.<\/p>\n
