Ayush Mhatre scored 104 not out off 59 balls for Mumbai<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

India U-19 captain Ayush Mhatre continued his impressive form with a second consecutive century, leading Mumbai to a dominant nine-wicket victory over Andhra in a group A match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Chasing a target of 160, Mhatre (104 not out off 59 balls) outshone national T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav (31 not out off 21 balls) in an unbroken partnership of 105, which took just 9.4 overs.<\/p>\n

Mhatre\u2019s innings included nine sixes and five fours, particularly targeting former MI pacer Satyanarayana Raju, who conceded 37 runs in two overs. Veteran pacer CV Stephen gave away 45 runs in his three overs.<\/p>\n

Most of Mhatre\u2019s shots were on the on-side, with eight of his nine sixes coming in the arc between deep mid-wicket and long-on.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old Mhatre, retained by Chennai Super Kings, has now hit 19 sixes across three SMAT games this season.<\/p>\n

Samson stars for Kerala<\/h2>\n

Sanju Samson rediscovered his form in a familiar opening position, smashing five sixes in a 15-ball 43 as Kerala cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Chhattisgarh in an afternoon game.<\/p>\n

Batting first, Chattisgarh managed only 120 in 19.5 overs, with former CSK seamer KM Asif taking 3 for 16, including the wicket of Punjab Kings batter Shashank Singh, who was out for a duck. Only Sanjeet Desai (35 off 23 balls) managed some big hits, but the Chattisgarh innings lacked momentum.<\/p>\n

On a flat pitch, Kerala chased down the target in just 10.4 overs, with Samson leading the charge at the top of the order.<\/p>\n

Since the Asia Cup, Samson had been pushed down the batting order for India as Shubman Gill opened alongside world No.1 T20 batter Abhishek Sharma.<\/p>\n

Samson never appeared comfortable in the middle order, and his preference for opening was evident against Chattisgarh, making the chase look effortless.<\/p>\n

He hit seamer Ravi Kiran for two sixes behind square and through mid-wicket, and left-arm wrist spinner Ajay Mandal for three identical shots over the deep mid-wicket boundary. Kerala reached 72 by the fifth over before Kiran had Samson caught by Anand Rao.<\/p>\n

However, Kerala had no trouble chasing the target.<\/p>\n

Riyan Parag flops for Assam<\/h2>\n

The highly-rated Riyan Parag struggled, scoring a painstaking 14 off 19 balls for Assam, who lost their low-scoring group A league game to Railways by three wickets.<\/p>\n

Batting first, Assam managed only 132 for 7, with Parag, who has captained IPL team Rajasthan Royals, wasting too many deliveries. Sahil Jain\u2019s 38 off 29 balls helped Assam cross 125.<\/p>\n

While chasing, Railways were 115 for 7 with 18 needed off the last 13 balls. Veteran skipper Karn Sharma (24 not out off 16 balls) finished strongly, hitting two fours and two sixes, ending the game with a six.<\/p>\n

Assam 132\/7 in 20 overs (Sahil Jain 38, Karn Sharma 2\/23). Railways 135\/7 in 19.4 overs (Karn Sharma 24 not out). Railways won by 3 wickets.<\/p>\n

Andhra 159\/7 in 20 overs (Ricky Bhui 48, Tushar Deshpande 3\/25). Mumbai 162\/1 in 15.2 overs (Ayush Mhatre 104 not out, Suryakumar Yadav 31 not out). Mumbai won by 9 wickets.<\/p>\n

Odisha 160\/6 (Sambit Baral 46, Darshan Nalkande 2\/48). Vidarbha 163\/2 in 14.5 overs (Aman Mokhade 73 not out, Dhruv Shorey 69 not out). Vidarbha won by 8 wickets.<\/p>\n
