World No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma is playing for Punjab in the 2025 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, and on Sunday, November 30, during his team\u2019s third Elite Group C match against Bengal at Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad, the 25-year-old left-handed batter from Amritsar, who is also leading the Punjab team, entered his name in the history books by registering the second-highest individual score in the history of T20 cricket by an Indian batter.<\/p>\n

Abhishek opened the innings for Punjab and scored 148 runs from 52 balls. During his stay at the crease, he hammered 8 fours and 16 sixes.<\/p>\n

Only one Indian batter\u2014Tilak Varma\u2014has scored more runs in a T20 match than him. During the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match between Hyderabad and Meghalaya in Saurashtra on November 23, the left-handed batter scored 151 runs from 67 balls. In that fixture, Tilak hammered 14 fours and 10 sixes.<\/p>\n
