India\u2019s women\u2019s team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, on Friday revealed that the Punjab Cricket Association are all set to rename a stand after her in the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur, on the back of the Women\u2019s World Cup triumph.<\/p>\n

Harmanpreet led India to their maiden ICC title in women\u2019s cricket, breaking a decades-long jinx.<\/p>\n

Harmanpreet was awarded the Champion of the World at the CNN-News18 Indian of the Year Awards on Friday, in the presence of former Indian cricketers Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami.<\/p>\n

The ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag has recently named a stand after Mithali\u2019s name and asked at the Awards if she would want a similar recognition at a venue, Harmanpreet revealed that the day is nearing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have already received a letter from PCA saying that they will soon unveil a stand after me,” Harmanpreet said with a grin.<\/p>\n

The star Indian allrounder became only the fourth Indian skipper to win a senior-level cricket World Cup, joining Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLifting the World Cup was a dream we cherished since childhood. I would like to thank Jay Shah for his contributions to the Women\u2019s cricket team, the pay parity and the Women\u2019s Premier League initiatives have been immensely helpful,” Harmanpreet said.<\/p>\n

In the lead-up to the World Cup, the Indian team won three ODI series, besides winning their first-ever bilateral T20I series in England as well.<\/span><\/p>\n

India had reached the World Cup finals in 2005 and 2017 but finished as runners-up on both occasions. This time, they ended the long wait for a global title with a memorable campaign, beating two tournament favourites, <\/span>defending champions Australia in the semi-final and an in-form South Africa in the final.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their campaign started with a confident victory over co-hosts Sri Lanka, followed by a dominant display against Pakistan. But a tough stretch ensued, marked by three close losses,<\/span>\u00a0to South Africa (by three wickets), Australia (by three wickets) and England (by four runs).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
