In the sixth match of the ongoing T20I tri-series in Pakistan, Babar came out to bat at No. 3 for the Salman Ali Agha-led side in the 185-run chase but failed to even open his account. He was sent back to the pavilion by Dushmantha Chameera on the last ball of the fourth over of Pakistan’s innings. Chameera trapped Babar in front of the wickets, and he got out for a two-ball duck.

Pakistani team management and their fans had high hopes from Babar, who is the highest run-getter in T20Is, but he failed to make any contribution.

The duck by Babar on Thursday was the 10th time in T20Is he got out without scoring even one run.

The 10th duck by Babar helped him now equal the unwanted record of most ducks for the Men in Green in the 20-over format of the game. Apart from Babar, out-of-favour wicketkeeper-batter Umar Akmal and young opener Saim Ayub also have 10 ducks each to their name in T20Is.

Most ducks in T20Is for Pakistan

PLAYER

MATCHES

RUNS

DUCKS

Saim Ayub

55

1043

10

Umar Akmal

84

1690

10

Babar Azam

135

4392

10

Shahid Afridi

98

1405

8

Kamran Akmal

58

987

7

Mohammad Nawaz

85

839

7

Mohammad Hafeez

119

2514

7

The overall record of scoring the most ducks in T20Is is in the name of former Sri Lanka captain and star all-rounder Dasun Shanaka. The Sri Lankans booked their place in the summit clash by a six-run win over the hosts on Thursday. In the must-win match, opener Kamil Mishara scored 76 runs from 48 balls for Sri Lanka, and wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis added 40 runs to Sri Lanka’s total from 23 balls.

In reply, despite Captain Agha’s unbeaten 63-run knock, Pakistan could only manage to score 178 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Chameera picked up 4 wickets for the visitors in four overs and only conceded 20 runs.

Location :

Rawalpindi, Pakistan

First Published:

November 28, 2025, 06:49 IST

News cricket Babar Azam Equals Unwanted Record Of Most Ducks For Pakistan In T20Is

Disclaimer: Comments reflect users’ views, not News18’s.
