Rohit Sharma led India to their second ICC T20 World Cup title win in June 2024. Under Rohit\u2019s leadership, India defeated South Africa by seven runs at Kensington Oval in Barbados to lift the T20 World Cup title for the second time in 17 years. Rohit was the member of the Indian team when they won the inaugural edition under MS Dhoni\u2019s leadership in 2007, and 17 years later, he led the side to their second title win. Rohit, who announced his retirement from T20Is after India\u2019s 7-run win in the summit clash, opened up about the team\u2019s title win and said it was a miracle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith that final (2023 ODI World Cup) in Ahmedabad, God has been very kind, and we went on to win the finals. From the position we were in, and to go on and win that final after that, it was truly a miracle, and then 8 months later, India go on to win another ICC trophy. So I am pretty happy with that,” Rohit said during the ICC event in Mumbai on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

In the final of the T20 World Cup 2024, South Africa needed 30 runs to win from 30 balls, but they failed to achieve the objective and went on to lose the fixture by 7 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets each for the Indian team in that fixture, and three South African batters were sent back to the pavilion by Hardik Pandya.<\/p>\n

Rohit on 2026 T20 WC<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the T20 World Cup 2025 schedule reveal event in Mumbai, Rohit was asked to pick his two finalists for the next year\u2019s tournament in India and Sri Lanka. Rohit said that he wants India to feature in the final and successfully defend their title.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously I want India to be in the finals. Can\u2019t really put my fingers on another team and say this and that. India playing the final against any team and India coming out on top is what I would love to see, and I\u2019m pretty sure\u2026 I don\u2019t know\u2026 what the others want. But I don\u2019t care about the opposition, to be honest. I prefer India to be there, and then let\u2019s see what happens,” Rohit said.<\/p>\n
