Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad is set to become the president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) unopposed in the elections scheduled for December 7.<\/p>\n

Prasad\u2019s candidacy was approved by the electoral officer, Dr B Basavaraju IAS (Retd), during the nomination screening process.<\/p>\n

KN Shanth Kumar, the other contender for the presidential post, had his nomination rejected on technical grounds, while Kalpana Venkatacahar withdrew her candidacy, clearing the way for Prasad\u2019s unopposed election.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this development, Venkatesh Prasad B.K. is now poised to be elected unopposed to the post of President,” stated the association.<\/p>\n

The nomination scrutiny was overseen by retired High Court judge Justice Subhash B Adi.<\/p>\n

Nominations of other former cricketers, including Sujith Somasundar (Vice-president, Secretary) and Avinash Vaidya (Joint Secretary and Managing Committee member), were also approved.<\/p>\n

Prasad previously served as vice-president of the association during Anil Kumble\u2019s tenure as president, with Javagal Srinath holding the secretary\u2019s post.<\/p>\n

Somasundar recently resigned from his position as head of education at the BCCI Centre of Excellence to contest in the state association elections.<\/p>\n
