Washington Sundar shares excitement over batting at any position for India, embracing different roles amidst lineup changes in the South Africa Test series.<\/h2>\n

Star India all-rounder Washington Sundar has said that he is happy to bat at any position that the team wants him to, adding that he is excited to play different roles, brushing aside all speculations about his inconsistent batting role, which saw him bat at No. 3 in the first Test against South Africa and No. 8 in the second.<\/p>\n

The change was prompted by captain <\/span>Shubman<\/span> Gill\u2019s neck injury, which ruled him out for the rest of the series and forced India to rethink their lineup combination.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ever diplomatic, Washington was not about to let a \u2018floated\u2019 question rattle him, brushing aside any suggestion that shifting up and down the batting order had left him unsettled.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI would say I am the happiest to bat wherever the team wants me to bat. That way, it is a lot more exciting. This is a team game,” Sundar said while speaking to the media at the end of the day\u2019s play.<\/p>\n

For the record, in the last match, Sundar was batting at number three and in the current game, he came in at No. 8 and looked the most sorted cricketer.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot at all (if the change is unsettling). Honestly, I really want to be the cricketer who steps up whenever the team requires and wherever the team wants me to bat and bowl. I have to be ready and get things done for the team,” Sundar said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter what situation I am in, it is very exciting for me that way. I also get to play different roles. I don\u2019t think many get that opportunity. So, it is only exciting,” Sundar added.<\/p>\n

As the conversation shifted to the match situation, the star Indian all-rounder seemed to embody the old saying \u2018hope springs eternal\u2019, remaining optimistic despite the odds stacked against India.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cGot to stay positive in life. You never know what will happen,” Sundar said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
