Australia, after conceding a lead of 40 runs in their first innings of the ongoing first Test of the 2025-26 Ashes series in Perth, bowled England out for 164 runs in their second innings on Saturday, November 22. Scott Boland picked up four wickets for 33 runs in 11.4 overs, and three English batters each were sent back to the pavilion by Mitchell Starc and Brendan Doggett, who conceded 55 and 51 runs, respectively.<\/p>\n

England manage to take a total lead of 204 runs, and now Australia will need to score 205 runs in their second innings to secure a win over the Ben Stokes-led side at Optus Stadium and go 1-0 up in the series.<\/p>\n

Australia have not lost a Test match against England at home since January 2011, and to protect that record, the Baggy Greens will have to put on a good show with the bat.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s highest successful run chase in the Ashes is 404. In 1948, under the leadership of Don Bradman, Australia chased down the target of 404 runs for the loss of just three wickets to secure a famous win by 7 wickets over the English team. Bradman remained unbeaten on 173 runs in the run chase, and opener Arthur Morris scored 182.<\/p>\n
