\u2018I felt like a champion,\u2019 said Sanju Samson in a video shared by Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday. The Kerala boy joining CSK has to be the biggest trade news of the year, given the emotions attached with the franchise, which has a rich legacy, and with Samson, who is the poster boy of Kerala cricket. In IPL 2026, CSK\u2019s fanbase is going to spike when their newest recruit dons the yellow jersey and walks out at Chepak, rubbing shoulders with legendary MS Dhoni.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, CSK shared a video on Instagram in which Samson expressed his feelings after wearing the yellow.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been waiting for this day. And I\u2019m very fortunate that I\u2019m going to wear the yellow jersey,” Sanju said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a player who has built his reputation with elegance, resilience and consistency, being welcomed into the CSK setup marks a significant milestone. I felt like a champion. I felt like ok wow,” he added.<\/p>\n

While CSK spent Rs 18 crore to acquire Samson, the blockbuster trade also marks a homecoming for Ravindra Jadeja, who returns to Rajasthan after 12 years with Chennai, where he played over 250 matches and became one of the league\u2019s most seasoned performers. As part of the agreement, Jadeja\u2019s fee has been revised from \u20b918 crore to \u20b914 crore, making the move beneficial for both the player and the franchise.<\/p>\n

Samson also ends his decade-long association with the Royals. He joined RR in 2013 as a young talent and grew into the team\u2019s central figure and captain. Except for the 2016\u201317 suspension period, he spent his entire career with the Royals before surprisingly asking for a move ahead of the 2026 season. The decision stunned many, given his long association with the franchise. Reports indicate Samson was seeking a fresh challenge, and CSK\u2019s long-term leadership vision made them an attractive option.<\/p>\n
