The BJP on Monday attacked PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti over her remarks on the car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, accusing her of defending extremists.<\/p>\n

In a post on X, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari wrote, \u201cMufti, who backed terrorist Burhan Wani, now justifies terrorists of the Red Fort Blast. Says \u2013 \u2018Hindu Muslim and hate responsible for terrorism\u2019.”<\/p>\n

He questioned, \u201cWhy does Indian Opposition led by Congress not resist in backing terrorists?” and labelled the PDP as the \u201cPro Terrorist Development Party (PTDP)”.<\/p>\n

This came after Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Centre in the wake of the November 10 Delhi car blast, alleging that New Delhi\u2019s policies had neither brought peace to Jammu and Kashmir nor ensured safety in the national capital.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou told the world that everything is alright in Kashmir, but the troubles of Kashmir echoed right in front of the Red Fort,” Mufti said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou promised to make Jammu and Kashmir safe, but instead of fulfilling that promise, your policies have made Delhi unsafe,” she added.<\/p>\n

Referring to the National Investigation Agency\u2019s findings that the Red Fort explosion was carried out using a \u201cvehicle-borne IED<\/strong><\/a>” driven by a Kashmir-based \u201csuicide bomber”, Mufti said the incident reflected a deeper crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf a well-educated youth, a doctor, kills himself and others by strapping RDX to his body, it means there is no safety in the nation,” she said, questioning whether the Centre \u201creally understands what is happening”.<\/p>\n

The former Chief Minister accused the government of relying on polarisation instead of addressing the roots of alienation.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou may get votes by doing Hindu-Muslim politics, but in which direction is the nation heading?” she asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cHindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians used to live together peacefully, but now the entire atmosphere is filled with hate. This hate-filled environment is pushing the youth toward a dangerous path,” Mufti said.<\/p>\n

She also slammed the Centre\u2019s post-2019 approach in Jammu and Kashmir, saying it had only deepened fear and resentment.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou arrested people, detained journalists, and booked individuals under the PSA. You had promised to make Jammu and Kashmir a safe place, but instead, you have created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation here,” she said.<\/p>\n

Linking the current unrest to the Red Fort bombing, she said, \u201cNow the trouble of Kashmir spoke in front of the Red Fort in Delhi. You had promised to make Jammu and Kashmir safe, but because of your actions, even Delhi has become unsafe.”<\/p>\n

Mufti warned that further division would only worsen the crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo they think that creating a Hindu-Muslim divide, more blasts, and more bloodshed will fetch them more votes? The country is bigger than power,” she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to tell the youth that what they are doing is wrong, wrong for themselves, their families, for Jammu and Kashmir, and for the entire country,” Mufti said.<\/p>\n

The car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, carried out by suicide bomber Umar Nabi, claimed 13 lives and left many others injured.<\/p>\n

As the investigations into the blast case progress, the National Investigation Agency on Sunday arrested a Kashmir resident who had allegedly conspired with Umar Un Nabi to carry out the terror attack.<\/p>\n

Amir Rashid Ali, in whose name the car involved in the blast was registered, has been arrested from Delhi by the NIA, the federal probe agency said in a release.<\/p>\n
