Fresh from its emphatic win in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has turned attention to what it describes as its steadily expanding footprint across state legislatures in India.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Party leader Amit Malviya highlighted the BJP\u2019s growing strength, noting that its representation in state assemblies has reached its \u201chighest-ever” level\u00a0 and continues to rise.<\/span><\/p>\n

Malviya says BJP set to cross 1,800 MLA mark<\/h4>\n

Amit Malviya expressed strong confidence in the party\u2019s trajectory, predicting that the BJP would surpass 1,800 MLAs nationwide within the next two years. In a post shared on X, Malviya contrasted the BJP\u2019s growth with the Congress Party\u2019s historical high point.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAt this pace, the BJP will comfortably cross the 1800-seat mark in the next two years,” he wrote, pointing out that the Congress had reached its peak of around 2,018 MLAs in 1985 during what he termed a \u201cmassive sympathy wave” following the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Malviya argued that political conditions in the 1980s made it \u201ceasier\u2026 to consolidate power and sway the electorate,” whereas, according to him, the BJP\u2019s rise has been built gradually and persistently.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congress inherited its peak, BJP earned its rise<\/h4>\n

In his statement, Malviya drew a pointed comparison between the two national parties, asserting that the BJP\u2019s climb has been the result of consistent hard work.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe difference is clear: Congress inherited its peak. BJP has earned and endured its rise, seat by seat, state by state, struggle by struggle,” he wrote. He further claimed that \u201cthe future belongs to a party that works, not one that survives on legacy.”<\/span><\/p>\n

BJP\u2019s rising MLA count<\/h4>\n

Data shared by the party shows a steady increase in BJP MLAs from 2014 onwards, reflecting its widening electoral influence at the state level.<\/span><\/p>\n

The BJP\u2019s MLA count has steadily evolved over the years, starting with 1,035 legislators in 2014, followed by 997 in 2015, 1,053 in 2016, and a significant rise to 1,365 in 2017. The numbers then shifted to 1,184 in 2018, 1,160 in 2019, and 1,207 in 2020. The upward trend continued with 1,278 MLAs in 2021, 1,289 in 2022, 1,441 in 2023, 1,588 in 2024, and ultimately 1,654 in 2025, marking the party\u2019s highest representation to date.<\/span><\/p>\n

The figures outline an upward trajectory, with particularly sharp growth noted in recent years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Buoyed by its Bihar win and rising legislative presence, the BJP is projecting momentum into future electoral cycles.<\/span><\/p>\n
