A sharp public outburst by Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has triggered a fresh political storm within the party, bringing renewed scrutiny on Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav and political aide Rameez Nemat, two figures long rumoured to wield significant influence over Tejashwi Yadav.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Sanjay and Rameez\u2019s names are mentioned, they will throw you out of the house, make people insult you, and even hit you with a slipper,” Rohini told reporters, shortly after posting a series of allegations on social media.<\/p>\n
Her comments have become the latest flashpoint in the factional churn gripping the RJD after its poor performance in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.<\/p>\n
Who Is Sanjay Yadav?<\/strong><\/p>\nRajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav\u2019s rise within the RJD dates back to 2015. Party insiders in Patna often recall a turning point: during the final phase of the tightly fought 2015 Bihar polls, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat made a remark about revisiting the reservation policy. Sanjay Yadav flagged the comment to Lalu Prasad Yadav, who reportedly responded, \u201cBadka mudda mil gel ba<\/em> (we got a big issue).”<\/p>\nThe RJD-JD(U) Mahagathbandhan capitalised on the remark, framing it as a threat to reservation. The alliance went on to sweep 178 seats, an outcome widely attributed to the Lalu\u2013Nitish partnership. But Sanjay Yadav emerged from that moment as a trusted insider in the RJD ecosystem.<\/p>\n
Yadav, who holds a master\u2019s degree in computer science and business management, hails from a political family in Haryana and shares a close relationship with both Tejashwi Yadav and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. His bond with Tejashwi, strengthened by a shared passion for cricket, eventually positioned him as the latter\u2019s key strategist.<\/p>\n
It was Sanjay Yadav who recast RJD\u2019s public messaging, crafting the \u201cYuva Bihari”<\/em> pitch and shifting the party\u2019s visual identity by placing Tejashwi at the centre of posters and hoardings, often overshadowing Lalu Prasad\u2019s presence.<\/p>\nHowever, his growing influence drew internal resentment. Rohini Acharya had first objected to Yadav occupying Tejashwi\u2019s seat during the latter\u2019s \u201cVoter Adhikar Yatra.”<\/p>\n
Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi\u2019s estranged elder brother, frequently invoked the term \u201cjaichand”<\/em> (traitor), which party workers believed was aimed at Sanjay Yadav. Several senior RJD leaders, ranging from Lalu loyalists to those who mentored Tejashwi during his early political years, quietly complained of reduced access to the party leadership.<\/p>\nYet none of them named him publicly, until Rohini\u2019s outburst.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have no family\u2026 Go ask Sanjay, Rameez, and Tejashwi. They are the ones who threw me out. No one wants to take responsibility. If someone tries to act like Chanakya, then questions will be asked to that Chanakya, right?” Rohini told the media.<\/p>\n
