Election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor\u2019s Jan Suraaj Party, which drew a blank in its debut in the Bihar Assembly Elections, on Saturday expressed disappointment over its performance but said that it won\u2019t deter and\u00a0would continue its opposition to the ruling NDA.<\/p>\n

Jan Suraaj National President Uday Singh said that the party\u2019s high-octane campaign on unemployment, migration and the absence of industries failed to translate into votes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are disappointed with the outcome of the assembly polls but not upset. Though we have not won even a single seat, we will keep opposing the ruling NDA,” he said as quoted by news agency PTI.<\/p>\n

He further acknowledged that the party struggled to win the confidence of Muslim voters and argued that the election results also reflected voters\u2019 reluctance to return the RJD to power.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mandate also proves that the people did not want the return of RJD,” Singh said.<\/p>\n

While referring to Bihar\u2019s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, under which Rs 10,000 each was transferred to the bank accounts of women in the state, Singh claimed that the cash transfer of Rs 40,000 crore to the accounts of women by the ruling NDA government in Bihar played an \u201cimportant role” in its victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was an attempt by the government to bribe people ahead of the polls. The votes were purchased. The cash benefits were transferred even after the model code of conduct came into force,” he alleged.<\/p>\n

The Jan Suraaj leader further said the party would closely watch how the government proceeds with its commitment to transfer the remaining Rs 2 lakh promised to women under the scheme. He also asserted that the NDA had secured a massive majority despite not crossing 50 per cent of the total vote share.<\/p>\n

On whether Kishor would remain active in politics after the JD(U) crossed the benchmark he had set for quitting, Singh said, \u201cYou should ask this question to Kishor only.” Kishor had earlier said he would quit politics if Nitish Kumar\u2019s party crossed 25 seats; the JD(U) eventually won 85.<\/p>\n

Bihar Poll Results<\/p>\n

The ruling NDA on Friday decimated the Mahagathbandhan, crossing the 200-seat mark in the 243-member assembly. The BJP and JD(U) together recorded an 85% strike rate in the 101 seats each contested. With the final tally placing the NDA at 202 seats and the Opposition alliance reduced to just 34, the mandate stands out as one of the most emphatic the state has witnessed in more than a decade.<\/p>\n

The outcome dealt a severe blow to Jan Suraaj Party, which failed to win a single seat despite high expectations and Kishor\u2019s own bold claims that the JD(U) would struggle to surpass 25 seats.<\/p>\n

Within the ruling coalition, the BJP led the charge with 89 seats, followed closely by the JD(U) at 85. Strong performances by allies \u2014 LJP(RV) with 19 seats, HAM with 5, RLM with 4, along with several smaller partners \u2014 cemented the NDA\u2019s dominance across the state.<\/p>\n

In sharp contrast, the Mahagathbandhan crumbled under the wave. The RJD managed just 25 seats, the Congress collapsed to 6, and the Left parties together secured only 3. The BSP and IIP picked up one seat each.<\/p>\n
