Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan has stated that the Rajasthan Royals should have retained Wanindu Hasaranga, but it seems that Ravindra Jadeja\u2019s arrival has altered the equation within the franchise.<\/p>\n

Hasaranga had an underwhelming season in IPL 2025. He scored nine runs in 11 matches at a dismal average of 1.8 and picked up 11 wickets, but was expensive at an economy of nine.<\/p>\n

Hasaranga has scored 2439 runs in 177 matches, at an average of 17.29, with nine half-centuries to his name. He has also picked 325 wickets in 224 games, at an economy of 6.97.<\/p>\n

\u201cRCB\u2019s four overseas players have been settled. Livingstone wouldn\u2019t have fit into the first 11, so his release makes sense. I feel RR could have persisted with Hasaranga, but he is a big name and such a player who can bowl well,” Pathan said while speaking on his YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think because Jadeja comes, this change is seen,” Pathan said.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the Punjab Kings\u2019 release list, the former India cricketer said that Glenn Maxwell\u2019s exit was on expected lines. He admitted that he was surprised to see Josh Inglis released but noted it was because of availability problems.<\/p>\n

Pathan added that Inglis should attract strong bids if he enters the auction.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaxwell is a big name, but we knew he would go out as the performance wasn\u2019t there. Inglis was a surprising release. But Ponting said that the issue is with his availability. There is no skill issue, so it is understandable,” Pathan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut should he go into the auction, then he could go for a good price. Teams will eye him as he doesn\u2019t let the bowlers settle,” Pathan added.<\/p>\n

Inglis amassed 278 runs in 11 games at an average of 30.88 and a strike rate of 162.57, playing a crucial role in the Punjab Kings\u2019 run to the IPL 2025 final.<\/p>\n

The IPL 2026 mini auction will be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n
