In a cryptic social media post, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav\u2019s daughter, Rohini Acharya, announced that she is quitting politics and disowning her family, a day after the party suffered a major setback, securing only 25 seats in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m quitting politics and I\u2019m disowning my family\u2026 This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do \u2026nd I\u2019m taking all the blame,” she said in a post on X.<\/p>\n

In her post, she named two individuals, \u2014 Sanjay Yadav and Rameez \u2014 saying she is doing what they had asked her to, and took for everything.<\/p>\n

Who Are Sanjay Yadav And Rameez?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sanjay Yadav is the Rajya Sabha MP from RJD and one of the most trusted aides of Tejashwi Yadav, the son and heir apparent of Lalu Prasad Yadav. He joined the RJD in 2012 and was sent to the Rajya Sabha by the party in 2024.<\/p>\n

According to political observers, Rohini\u2019 post is being viewed as a pressure tactic after her brother, Tejashwi Yadav did not immediately act against RJD rebel Sanjay Yadav and Rameez.<\/p>\n

As per sources, she was among the first to publicly object when Sanjay was seen occupying Tejashwi\u2019s seat in the \u2018rath\u2019 during the Tejashwi Yatra. Many within the party believe she felt Sanjay was increasingly controlling the narrative around Tejashwi.<\/p>\n

Rameez, meanwhile, is reportedly an old friend of Tejashwi Yadav and comes from a political family in the neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.<\/p>\n

It was not clear from Acharya\u2019s post what exactly Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had said to her. The two were not available for comments either.<\/p>\n

Who Is Rohini Acharya?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A medical graduate who chose to become a homemaker after marriage and settle down with her husband and children in Singapore, Rohini earned immense respect after donating a kidney to her father and remains an influential voice in the RJD camp.<\/p>\n

Last year, she contested on an RJD ticket in the Saran Lok Sabha seat, which her father had represented years ago, but failed to wrest the constituency from BJP\u2019s Rajiv Pratap Rudy, a several-term MP.<\/p>\n

It was speculated that she was \u201cunhappy” over the expulsion of Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Prasad, from the party. However, during the assembly elections, she was seen campaigning for Tejashwi.<\/p>\n

The RJD\u2019s seat tally slipped to 24 from 75 in the Bihar assembly polls.<\/p>\n

The ruling NDA decimated the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar on Friday to retain power, reaffirming Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s popularity and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar\u2019s enduring appeal and dealing a body blow to the Congress and ally RJD.<\/p>\n
