Indian ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill said he was left \u2018disturbed\u2019 by the massive blast near the Red Fort in Old Delhi on Monday that took the lives of at least eight people and left several others injured. In a brief post on social media, he said his thoughts were with the victims and hoped for their peace and safety.<\/p>\n

A car exploded near the Red Ford metro station in the evening. According to Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, the blast occurred at 6:52 p.m. local time (13:22 GMT) after the slow-moving vehicle halted at a traffic signal and suddenly blew up. The cause of the explosion is yet to be officially confirmed, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed that those behind the incident will be brought to justice.<\/p>\n

\u201cDisturbed by the distressing events at the Red Fort. My thoughts are with everyone impacted. Hoping for peace, safety, and strength for all. \ud83d\ude4f,” Gill wrote on X.<\/p>\n

Gill is currently with the men\u2019s team at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, preparing for the two-Test series against South Africa.<\/p>\n

He reportedly spent over 90 minutes at the nets on Tuesday, working to adjust from white-ball cricket to the demands of the red-ball format. Before his session, he held a detailed discussion with head coach Gautam Gambhir and batting coach Sitanshu Kotak about his approach.<\/p>\n

Having endured a lean run in Australia with just one fifty-plus score in eight innings across three ODIs and five T20Is, Gill looked determined to find rhythm and confidence ahead of the series.<\/p>\n

Gill began by facing spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, playing mostly along the ground, before moving to the pace nets against Nitish Kumar Reddy and local bowlers. He concluded with an intense round of throwdowns, including some from bowling coach Morne Morkel.<\/p>\n

The first Test will be played at the Eden between November 14-18. The second Test will be played at the Baraspara Stadium in Guwahati from November 22-26.<\/p>\n
