Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, on Tuesday drew a parallel between the 1971 war and Operation Sindoor.<\/p>\n

Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the Operation Sindoor debate, Rahul Gandhi said that the Pahalgam attack was orchestrated by the Pakistani state.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026There are two words \u2013 \u2018Political Will\u2019 and \u2018Freedom of Operation\u2019. If you want to utilise the Indian Armed Forces, you need to have 100% political will and full freedom of operation. Yesterday, Rajnath Singh compared 1971 and Sindoor. I would like to remind him that there was political will in 1971. Seventh Fleet was approaching India through the Indian Ocean. The then PM said we will have to do whatever we have to Bangladesh, come wherever you have to\u2026Indira Gandhi told General Manekshaw to take 6 months, 1 year, whatever time you need because you should have freedom of action, of manoeuvre. 1 lakh Pakistani soldiers surrendered and a new country as formed,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a brutal, heartless, and merciless attack \u2014 clearly organised and orchestrated by the Pakistani state. Young people and old people alike were murdered in cold blood. From the moment Operation Sindoor began \u2014 in fact, even before it started \u2014 all opposition parties had committed that they would stand like a rock with the elected government. Every single person in this House has condemned Pakistan. While we did hear sarcastic remarks from some, we chose to stand united, as was agreed upon by the entire opposition bloc. We are proud that we came together as one,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTiger has to be given freedom. You cannot control Tiger if you need work done by it. There are two words: political will and freedom of operation. So if you want to use Indian forces, the first thing you will need is 100 per cent political will, and then you will need full freedom of operation as well.<\/p>\n
