South Africa suffered a horrific batting collapse in the second ODI against South Africa in Faisalabad on Saturday. Their decision to bat first backfired heavily as the Proteas were folded for 143 in 37.5 overs. The visitors had a terrific start to their innings with Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Quinton de Kock stitching a 72-run opening stand. But once the partnership was broken, South Africa experienced one of the worst collapses in ODIs.<\/p>\n

South Africa lost their last nine wickets for just 56 runs \u2014 their sixth-worst meltdown in ODI history. After a solid start, the Proteas completely lost momentum, managing to add only 71 runs following the first wicket\u2019s fall. It marked their fifth-lowest partnership aggregate between the fall of the second and tenth wickets, underlining how quickly their innings unravelled.<\/p>\n

The score of 143 was South Africa\u2019s second-lowest total in ODIs after a fifty-plus opening stand. Their 134 against Afghanistan last year tops the chart on this list.<\/p>\n
