Jemimah Rodrigues played a big role in India\u2019s first-ever Women\u2019s ODI World Cup title win. The Mumbai-based right-handed batter scored an unbeaten century in the second semifinal played against Australia at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30. Her 127-run knock helped India chase down the target of 339 runs against the seven-time champions and book a place in the summit clash, where Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. defeated South Africa by 52 runs on November 2.<\/p>\n

After playing a big role in India\u2019s title win, Jemimah met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday (November 7), and after the felicitation ceremony where she received a cash prize of Rs 2.50 crore, she spoke to reporters and added that India\u2019s World Cup win will do massive things for women\u2019s cricket in India.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this win for us is going to do massive things for women\u2019s cricket in India. It was just the boost we needed. The pay parity coming in by BCCI and the WPL coming in \u2014 already the women\u2019s cricket had picked up. But now it is going to go to a whole new level\u2026 I can\u2019t wait to see what is going to happen. In India, cricket is a religion. But what I am excited to see is fathers coming with their daughters and saying that they want their daughters to play cricket or any dream they want to follow\u2026,” Jemimah said.<\/p>\n

When Sachin Tendulkar and Team India won the World Cup, his house and mine were next to each other. I saw him from my balcony, and there was a huge crowd in Bandra. His car could not even move. I was 11 years old\u2026 That time it was a dream that I wanted to win the World Cup. I can\u2019t believe that now this dream is becoming a reality\u2026” she added.<\/p>\n
