India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan (PTI)<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan are contenders for selection in India\u2019s Asia Cup squad, which is expected to be announced in the third week of August.<\/p>\n

Jaiswal and Test captain Gill have not participated in recent T20 matches due to a packed schedule, but their one-month break following the five-Test series against England should make them available for the continental tournament.<\/p>\n

According to BCCI sources, the national selectors are keeping their options open even as the Test series against the West Indies at home begins in less than a week. Should India qualify for the final of the continental T20 event, scheduled for September 28, the selectors will make their decisions accordingly.<\/p>\n

The first Test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad starts on October 2.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that Jaiswal scored 559 runs at a strike rate of 160 in the last IPL edition, while Gill amassed 650 runs in 15 games with a healthy strike rate of over 155.<\/p>\n

Gill\u2019s opening partner at Gujarat Titans, Sudharsan, was the \u2018Orange Cap\u2019 winner with 759 runs at a strike rate of 156.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a five week break and with no cricket around, these three should walk into any T20 squad despite stupendous show by Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. In 21 days in Asia Cup, if one plays till final, there are 6 T20 games and that\u2019s not much of a workload. But obviously with 17 member squads allowed for the Asia Cup, selectors will weigh options carefully,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI on conditions of anonymity.<\/p>\n

Will Jaiswal, Gill & Sudharsan Play In Asia Cup?<\/h2>\n

Considering the UAE pitches and the upcoming T20 World Cup in six months, Jaiswal, Gill, and Sudharsan should logically form the core of the top order.<\/p>\n

Sudharsan, who made his ODI debut in late 2023, has been in excellent T20 form.<\/p>\n

Another important point is the availability of pace spearheads Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.<\/p>\n

Both bowlers have been carefully managed after a heavy workload across formats and are expected to undergo fitness assessments before the selection meeting.<\/p>\n
