Taking on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said he has talked about Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and even her mother\u2019s tears but did not answer \u201cwhy the war” against Pakistan was halted.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a fiery speech during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament, Priyanka spoke about her \u201cmother\u2019s tears” as mentioned by Shah, who claimed that the former Congress president \u201ccried for the Batla House terrorists”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Going into combative mode, she said her mother cried when terrorists killed her father, Rajiv Gandhi, and it is how she understands the pain of those who had lost loved ones in the Pahalgam terror attack.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother\u2019s tears were talked about in the House, I want to answer this. My mother\u2019s tears fell when her husband was martyred by terrorists, when she was only 44-years-old. Today, I am standing in this House and talking about those 26 people (who were killed in Pahalgam) because I know their pain and feel it,” Priyanka said responding to Shah\u2019s remarks earlier in the day when he cited then Union minister Salman Khurshid\u2019s remarks to make the claim about Sonia Gandhi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking further during the debate on Operation Sindoor<\/a><\/strong> she launched a full-blown attack on the central government over \u201clapses” that led to the Pahalgam attack. She took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying leadership is not just about taking credit but also taking responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

Priyanka read out the names of the Pahalgam victims<\/a><\/strong>, asserting that she was doing this so that every member of the House realises that \u201cthey too were human beings like us, not pawns in some political game”.<\/span><\/p>\n

At one point during her speech, she gave a firm response on this. As she read out the first name, the treasury benches shouted: \u201cHindu”, to which she replied \u201cBharatiya”.<\/span><\/p>\n

She questioned the Centre\u2019s inability to take responsibility for intelligence failure and the reluctance to list out damage sustained by the Indian armed forces, like the loss of aircraft.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a big failure of our government and intelligence agencies. Who will take responsibility for this? Has anyone resigned? They keep talking about the past, but who will answer about what is happening in the present?” she asked.<\/span><\/p>\n

Priyanka further said the purpose of \u2018Operation Sindoor\u2019 was to teach Pakistan a lesson, but this may remain unfulfilled because \u201cour diplomacy has failed”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe proof of this is that after Operation Sindoor, a Pakistani general, whose hands were stained with blood, was having lunch with the American president. If the purpose of Operation Sindoor was to eliminate terrorism, then Pakistan being chosen as the chairman of the United Nations\u2019 \u2018Counter-Terrorism Committee\u2019 has dealt a blow to this purpose. Will our prime minister take responsibility for this, do they have the courage,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n
