The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after she congratulated the Indian women\u2019s cricket team for their historic win in the ICC cricket. The BJP quoted Banerjee\u2019s X post and wrote, \u201cOMG, they were playing till 12! But you had told them to be home by 8!!”.<\/p>\n

The post was a sharp dig at Banerjee\u2019s remarks after the gang rape of a medical student outside her campus in Durgapur in October.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was studying in a private medical college\u2026 all the private medical are whose responsibility? how they came out in the night at 12:30?\u2026 it happened, so far I know, in the forest area\u2026 investigation is on,” the Bengal CM had said.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s team recorded a historic win on Sunday, defeating South Africa. The Indian women\u2019s team lifted their first-ever ICC Women\u2019s World Cup trophy after a thrilling victory.<\/p>\n

From political leaders to cricketers, everyone hailed the women\u2019s team, as the country joined in celebrating the milestone.<\/p>\n

Prime MInister Narendra Modi on Monday also began his address at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025, by lauding the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is India\u2019s first Women\u2019s World Cup. I congratulate our women\u2019s cricket team. We are proud of you. Your success will inspire millions of young people across the country,” he said.<\/p>\n
