Former India captain Rohit Sharma has thrown his full support behind the Indian women\u2019s team, expressing immense admiration for their resilience and a heartfelt hope that they finally lift the ICC Women\u2019s World Cup 2025 trophy.<\/p>\n

Speaking to ICC, ahead of the final against South Africa at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, Rohit reflected on the women\u2019s team\u2019s long journey and the parallels with the men\u2019s own pursuit of World Cup glory.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know what they\u2019ve been through all these years, chasing that elusive trophy. It\u2019s always been tough,” Rohit said. \u201cWe\u2019ve come very close so many times, but couldn\u2019t cross the line. It\u2019s been the same story for both teams over the last 15 years. I really hope they cross it this time.”<\/p>\n

The veteran opener, dressed casually, was also seen in the stands cheering the side from the corporate box as a packed 50,000-strong crowd created a carnival-like atmosphere for the high-stakes clash.<\/p>\n

Rohit, who previously led India\u2019s squads, hailed the women\u2019s team\u2019s stunning semifinal comeback win over Australia as a defining moment for Indian cricket.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way we played that game was just superb to watch,” he said. \u201cSo I\u2019m not surprised to see 50,000 people here today. Along with them, the entire nation is behind these 15 players.”<\/p>\n

The former skipper also spoke about how a World Cup triumph could transform women\u2019s cricket in India and inspire a new generation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve already taken giant strides in the last five or six years \u2014 and it\u2019s only going to grow from here,” Rohit added. \u201cI hope they get the crown today. It would benefit not just these players, but also the younger generation looking up to them. There are no better ambassadors for the game than the ones out there right now.”<\/p>\n

As India chases history on home soil and the stands erupt with chants and tricolours waving high, Rohit\u2019s presence added an emotional spark to a night that could redefine Indian cricket history.<\/p>\n
