Romario Shepherd and Akeal Hosain took three wickets each as West Indies beat Bangladesh by 14 runs, clinching a 2-0 lead in the series.<\/h2>\n

Romario Shepherd and Akeal Hosain each took three wickets, helping the West Indies secure a 14-run victory over Bangladesh in the second Twenty20, thereby clinching a 2-0 lead in the three-match series on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Bangladesh was held to 135-8 after the West Indies had earlier posted 149\/9.<\/p>\n

Shepherd, the pace bowler, dismissed opener Tanzid Hasan, who was Bangladesh\u2019s top scorer with 61 off 48 balls. Jason Holder also played a key role in restricting the home team, finishing with figures of 2-20.<\/p>\n

Holder made an early breakthrough by dismissing opener Saif Hassan (5) before left-arm spinner Akeal removed Liton Das for 23.<\/p>\n

Despite dropping four catches, West Indies dominated as Shepherd triggered a collapse from 85-2, claiming the wickets of Tanzid and Jaker Ali (17) in the same over.<\/p>\n

The West Indies had also experienced a setback after reaching 106-1 in 11.2 overs, following captain Shai Hope\u2019s decision to bat first.<\/p>\n

Pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman took 3-21, while spinners Nasum Ahmed (2-35) and Rishad Hossain (2-20) also contributed.<\/p>\n

Hope top-scored for the West Indies with 55 off 36 balls, which included three fours and as many sixes.<\/p>\n

Opener Alick Athanaze struck five fours and three sixes in his 52 off 33 deliveries, as he and Hope put on a 105-run partnership for the second wicket.<\/p>\n

Romario Shepherd, was adjudged the player of the match, said: \u201cFrom the start it was difficult to hit at the back end. So, once we struggled, you know, we needed to start well with the ball and we did exactly that with Jayden and Jason. We know we will keep it tight in the back end. It\u2019s going to be difficult for them to hit the ball. With a small total like that, there\u2019s no room for error, you have to keep the game as tight as possible, when you\u2019re in the back end because once they get a big partnership the total is pretty small. It\u2019s (drop catches) part of the game. It\u2019s just for us to think about the next ball and that ball in the past, whatever is gone is gone.”<\/p>\n

Litton Das, Bangladesh captain, said: \u201cThe last 2-3 series the bowlers have done really well. I am really sorry for our bowlers, they have bowled well but we (batters) haven\u2019t been able to finish off matches. 150 is not a big total here. Whenever we got starts, we got out, if I had batted through then the game was over. They bowled really well, but their fielding was not great as the first game, they still managed to win.”<\/p>\n

Shai Hope, West Indies captain, said: \u201cYes, definitely some concern (with the finishing). When we spoke at the halfway stage, we mentioned between 190 and sometimes even 220. We fell away a bit in the back end, but credit again must go to the bowlers who put in the effort to give us a win in the back end. We\u2019re very lucky to be able to put this game on. Yes, we always speak about the catches winning matches, we did have some non-famous days with those drop catches, but again credit must be given to the bowlers. That\u2019s something that we need to look out for in the next game. We\u2019ve got a sense of loss. Those catches were really pointless in the back end. It\u2019s certainly going to uplift the mood in the dressing room. We always talk about coming here and doing well in these conditions. It\u2019s great to see the guys turn things around, especially from the ODI series loss, something to take forward with us.”<\/p>\n
