Prahlad Kakkar recalled an anecdote when Govinda was extremely late to set but didn’t seem to think that it was an issue.<\/h2>\n

Govinda hasn’t been seen in a film lately. <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Renowned advertising filmmaker and brand strategist Prahlad Kakkar, often referred to as the \u2018ad guru of India\u2019, recently recalled a light-hearted anecdote from his time working with Bollywood actor Govinda, highlighting the actor\u2019s easy-going approach to punctuality and the way he handled it.<\/p>\n

In a candid conversation with ANI, Kakkar, known for shaping some of India\u2019s most iconic advertising campaigns, reflected on his experience working with numerous leading names in the film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra.<\/p>\n

However, it was his experience with Govinda that brought out a particularly amusing memory. \u201cGovinda had the ability to come 24 hours late and pretend he\u2019s on time,” Kakkar said with a laugh, describing the actor\u2019s effortless and charming way of handling delays.<\/p>\n

Govinda, known for his comic timing, vibrant dance style and memorable performances in hit films such as \u2018Coolie No. 1\u2019, \u2018Hero No. 1\u2019, \u2018Saajan Chale Sasural\u2019, \u2018Raja Babu\u2019, \u2018Dulhe Raja\u2019, and \u2018Haseena Maan Jaayegi\u2019, among others, remains one of Bollywood\u2019s most loved entertainers.<\/p>\n

Recalling a specific incident from the set, Kakkar shared, \u201cHe walks in blase, \u2018mai aa gaya, chalo ready\u2019, but \u2018Boss, tu kal aane vaala tha aaj aaya\u2019, and he responded, \u2018Ek din mein kya farak padta hai\u2019 (What difference does a day make).”<\/p>\n

Kakkar, who crafted unforgettable ad campaigns such as Pepsi\u2019s \u201cYehi Hai Right Choice Baby! Aha!”, Maggi\u2019s \u201c2 Minutes” commercial, and the quirky \u201cIt\u2019s Different” ketchup ad, is known for his sharp wit, creativity, and ability to connect with the masses through storytelling and humour.<\/p>\n

Speaking further, Kakkar also recalled moments from the 1994 Miss India pageant, particularly about Sushmita Sen, who went on to win both the Miss India and Miss Universe titles. He shared that during the contest, he had accompanied Aishwarya Rai and had access to backstage areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had escorted Aishwarya to Goa with her mother. I met Sushmita there at the thing. I had access to the changing room, much to the organiser\u2019s dismay. He tried to stop me and questioned my identity. I told them, \u2018You can\u2019t stop me,'” he said.<\/p>\n

Recounting a touching moment, Kakkar said, \u201cOne day, halfway through the competition, Sushmita was weeping copiously in one corner of the changing room. I walked up to her. Even though I was supposed to be from a rival camp, I walked up to her and asked her. She said, \u2018No, it\u2019s all fixed. It\u2019s all rigged. We don\u2019t know what we are doing here.\u2019<\/p>\n

When I asked her, she explained how Aishwarya was a bigger model and that she would be named the winner. The filmmaker also shared how he advised Sushmita about judge Simone Tata\u2019s role, encouraging her to trust the fairness of the judgment process. \u201cShe\u2019s a judge. She\u2019s going to judge honestly and fairly. And that\u2019s precisely what happened,” he said. Sushmita Sen went on to win the Miss India crown that year, eventually making history by becoming India\u2019s first Miss Universe.<\/p>\n
