The Modi government has begun consultations for the 8th Pay Commission, raising hopes for a fresh salary hike for central government employees.<\/h2>\n

The Modi government has initiated discussions with key departments like the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Department of Personnel and Training, and state governments to form the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC). Once this commission is officially set up and submits its report, we will get a clearer idea of how the salaries of central government employees might be revised.<\/p>\n

The salary hike will mostly depend on a key figure called the fitment factor, which acts as a multiplier to determine the new basic pay. In the 7th CPC, the fitment factor was 2.57. As per India.com, experts now estimate that the 8th CPC might propose a fitment factor in the range of 1.92 to 2.86. Based on this, new salary projections have been calculated across various pay grades.<\/p>\n

What is Fitment Factor?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fitment factor is a number used to multiply an employee\u2019s current basic pay to arrive at their revised salary under the new pay commission. A higher fitment factor means a bigger hike in salary. For example, if your basic pay is Rs 30,000 and the fitment factor is 2.57, your new basic pay would be Rs 77,100.<\/p>\n

Salary Projections Across Pay Grades<\/strong><\/p>\n

To help employees estimate what they might earn, here are examples of revised salaries at different fitment factors 1.92 and 2.57 across select grade pays (1900, 2400, 4600, 7600, 8900). These examples also include allowances such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), National Pension System (NPS), and Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).<\/p>\n

It is important to note that HRA is taken as 24 per cent of basic salary (for X-class cities), TA varies from Rs 3,600 to Rs 7,200 depending on the level, NPS is 10 per cent of basic, and CGHS is kept at current rates, according to India.com.<\/p>\n

For Grade Pay 1900:<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 1.92 fitment factor:<\/p>\n

Basic: Rs 54,528 | HRA: Rs 13,086 | TA: Rs 3,600<\/p>\n

Gross: Rs 71,215 | NPS: Rs 5,453 | CGHS: Rs 250<\/p>\n

Net: Rs 65,512<\/p>\n

At 2.57 fitment factor:<\/p>\n

Basic: Rs 72,988 | HRA: Rs 17,517<\/p>\n

Gross: Rs 94,105 | NPS: Rs 7,299<\/p>\n

Net: Rs 86,556<\/p>\n

For Grade Pay 2400:<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 1.92 fitment factor: Basic: Rs 73,152 | Net: Rs 86,743<\/p>\n

At 2.57 fitment factor: Basic: Rs 97,917 | Net: Rs 1,14,975<\/p>\n

For Grade Pay 4600:<\/strong><\/p>\n

While these calculations provide a helpful preview, they are only estimates based on current assumptions and expert predictions. The final salary figures will only be confirmed once the 8th CPC submits its official recommendations and the government approves them.<\/p>\n

For now, employees can use this information to get a rough idea of what their revised salary, allowances, and deductions might look like under the upcoming pay structure.<\/p>\n
