Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech\u2019s love story wasn\u2019t love at first sight. The cricketer revealed it took him 3.5 years to convince Hazel to meet him.<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh and actor Hazel Keech have been married for almost a decade now, and together they share two adorable children. But their love story wasn\u2019t the kind that bloomed overnight \u2014 it was a long, patient pursuit that tested Yuvraj\u2019s persistence and sense of humour.<\/p>\n

Appearing together on The Kapil Sharma Show, Yuvraj and Hazel opened up about the early days of their relationship, and the charming \u2014 and often hilarious \u2014 struggle it took before the two finally got together.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe Didn\u2019t Care To Show Me Her Face For 3.5 Years”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yuvraj recalled the first time he saw Hazel at a friend\u2019s party. \u201cShe didn\u2019t care to even show me her face for about 3.5 years,” he said, laughing. \u201cI requested her so many times, but she just wouldn\u2019t meet me. Finally, when she agreed, I saw her walking like a man, and that actually impressed me! I thought, this girl is different. Then I looked at what she was wearing and decided to just focus on her cute face.”<\/p>\n

Despite his instant fascination, winning Hazel\u2019s attention turned out to be tougher than any cricket match he had ever played. \u201cWhen I texted her saying I was sick, she replied, \u2018Good luck!\u2019 That\u2019s when I realised she\u2019s extremely weird and I stopped talking to her for a while,” he admitted.<\/p>\n

A Long Wait, A Facebook Add, And A Folded Hands Emoji<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fate, however, had its own plans. \u201cI found out she was friends with one of my friends,” Yuvraj said. \u201cI told him to stay away from her because one day, I\u2019m going to marry this girl!” he joked.<\/p>\n

Years later, Hazel finally added him on Facebook. \u201cI immediately sent her a folded-hands emoji and thanked her for accepting my friend request after 3.5 years. That\u2019s when she agreed to meet me,” he shared.<\/p>\n

Even then, the romance took time to blossom. \u201cAfter that meeting, she made me wait for another year before saying yes,” Yuvraj said with a smile.<\/p>\n

\u201cI Switched Off My Phone After Saying Yes To Coffee”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hazel, on her part, revealed she wasn\u2019t initially interested in the cricketer. \u201cOnce, he asked me out for coffee, and I said yes \u2014 then switched off my phone,” she said, laughing. When Kapil Sharma asked when she finally fell for him, Hazel replied, \u201cI don\u2019t know. Maybe the day he proposed. I thought, okay, he seems decent \u2014 I can think about it.”<\/p>\n

Yuvraj recalled the proposal with his signature wit: \u201cWhen I knelt down, I forgot which finger to put the ring on. I had to ask her \u2014 \u2018Which one?\u2019 and she said, \u2018Left!\u2019 We spent five minutes figuring it out.”<\/p>\n

\u201cMy Mom Said, \u2018I\u2019m So Happy You\u2019re Marrying A Man!\u2019”<\/strong><\/p>\n

When asked if his mother approved of Hazel, Yuvraj quipped, \u201cMy mom loved her. She said, \u2018I\u2019m so happy you\u2019re marrying a man!\u2019”<\/p>\n

The couple got engaged in 2015 and tied the knot in 2016 in a grand Sikh-Hindu wedding. Hazel also embraced Sikhism after marriage, adopting the name Gurbasant Kaur.<\/p>\n

Even Yuvraj\u2019s father, Yograj Singh, fondly spoke about his daughter-in-law, saying in an interview, \u201cWhen he turned 38, I told him to find his own partner. I just requested him to \u2018change the breed\u2019 \u2014 I wanted an Irish or English girl in the family. Then Hazel came into our lives. She\u2019s not my daughter-in-law; she\u2019s my daughter.”<\/p>\n

From a three-and-a-half-year wait to a fairytale wedding, Yuvraj and Hazel\u2019s story is proof that sometimes, love isn\u2019t about instant sparks \u2014 it\u2019s about persistence, patience, and a bit of laughter along the way.<\/p>\n
