Anees Bazmee appears to be switching gears before diving into his much-anticipated No Entry sequel. The filmmaker, who had planned to reunite audiences with the comic chaos of No Entry Mein Entry, is reportedly setting his sights first on another project. It is a film tentatively titled Ram Aur Shyam. And if reports are to be believed, some of Bollywood\u2019s biggest names are being considered for the lead.<\/p>\n

According to a Mid-Day report, Bazmee is expected to begin work on Ram Aur Shyam early next year. The film is said to be in its advanced stages of development, with Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Kartik Aaryan emerging as the top contenders for the double role.<\/p>\n

Although the title instantly recalls Dilip Kumar\u2019s iconic 1967 classic, sources close to the project insist this will not be a remake. \u201cAnees sir has been toying with this concept for a while. The idea is not to remake the classic, but to reinterpret the twin theme for a new generation,” a trade insider told the tabloid.<\/p>\n

Among the actors being discussed, Kartik Aaryan is reportedly a strong favourite. However, scheduling conflicts could complicate things. With all three actors juggling multiple commitments, aligning dates might be a challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll three actors have a packed schedule. Ranveer starts Don 3 in January, Kartik has Naagzilla. After Ranbir wraps up Love & War, he will dive into Dhoom 4 prep. The other actor on Anees sir\u2019s mind is Shahid Kapoor. If the dates work out, the film could start by February-end,” the source added.<\/p>\n

Anees Bazmee is a renowned Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer known for his contributions to Hindi cinema. Over the years, he has become one of Bollywood\u2019s most successful directors, delivering some of the biggest comedy hits such as No Entry (2005), Welcome (2007), Singh Is Kinng (2008), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024).<\/p>\n

Born into a Gujarati Muslim family, Anees is the son of Urdu poet Abdul Hameed \u2018Nerang\u2019 Bazmee. His journey in cinema began at a young age when he appeared as a child actor in Gulzar\u2019s Kitaab (1977). He later worked as an assistant director on Raj Kapoor\u2019s Prem Rog (1982), which helped him gain a deeper understanding of filmmaking. Bazmee transitioned to screenwriting soon after, earning his first writing credit for David Dhawan\u2019s Swarg (1990).<\/p>\n

He made his directorial debut with Hulchul in 1995, but it was Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998) that established him as a successful filmmaker. The film became one of the highest-grossing movies of that year and marked the beginning of his strong run in commercial cinema. Bazmee went on to create a string of hits, particularly in the comedy genre, with films like No Entry, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng, and Ready (2011).<\/p>\n
