Mumbai’s Ajinkya Rahane smashed 159 in the Ranji Trophy (X)<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Former captain Ajinkya Rahane scored a determined 159, propelling Mumbai to 406\/8 in their first innings on the rain-affected second day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match against Chhattisgarh on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Rahane, who had retired at 118 due to cramps on the first day, resumed his innings on the second day, reaching 159 off 303 balls, including 21 fours. He was eventually dismissed, caught behind by Aditya Sarwate (4\/103).<\/p>\n

Mumbai resumed their first innings at 251 for five on the second day, with only 46 overs bowled at the BKC Ground. Akash Anand was batting on 60 (148 balls, 5 fours), accompanied by Tushar Deshpande (4 not out) at stumps.<\/p>\n

More Fifties For Delhi<\/h2>\n

At the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi put Himachal Pradesh in a challenging position at 165 for three, leading by 265 runs in their first innings. Delhi posted a substantial total of 430, with none of their batters converting their starts into big scores. Openers Arpit Rana (64), Sanat Sangwan (79), and No. 3 Yash Dhull (61) hit fifties at the top, while the lower order contributed significantly.<\/p>\n

Ayush Doseja scored 75, Sumit Mathur made 51, and Anuj Rawat hit a brisk 57 off 66 balls with four fours and three sixes, helping Delhi to a large total after resuming play at 306\/4 on the second day.<\/p>\n

In response, Himachal Pradesh opener Sidhant Purohit played cautiously, making 70 off 165 balls with 10 fours, but a few late wickets left them in trouble. Purohit was dismissed by India bowler Navdeep Saini, who also accounted for Ankit Kalsi (20), while Ankush Bains (43) fell to Sumit Mathur.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s quarterfinalists Jammu and Kashmir dominated Rajasthan, who were trailing by 89 runs in the second innings after slipping to 41\/5. Rajasthan were bowled out for 152 in their reply to J&K\u2019s total of 282, conceding a lead of 132 runs in the first innings.<\/p>\n

In the second innings, Auqib Nabi wreaked havoc in the Rajasthan ranks with a brilliant spell of 6-2-5-5, leaving the visitors in disarray and putting the game firmly in J&K\u2019s control at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar.<\/p>\n

In the last Group D game, hosts Puducherry reached 25\/1 in reply to Hyderabad\u2019s 435 in the first innings, trailing by 410 runs. Rahul Gahlaut scored 114, while half-centuries from opener Tanmay Agarwal (50), Kodimela Himateja (66), and wicketkeeper-batter Rahul Radesh (81) helped Hyderabad post a big total in their first innings.<\/p>\n
