Varma revealed that the victorious Indian side laid in wait for over an hour in anticipation of the silverware following their emphatic win over Pakistan in the summit clash.<\/h2>\n

Asia Cup hero Tilak Varma, who led India to a emphatic win over noisy-neighbours Pakistan, gave an additional bit of insight into the controversial \u2018No Trophy\u2019 celebration the men in blue marked their victory with, as the southpaw revealed that the side waited for over an hour in anticipation of the silverware.<\/p>\n

After the Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council chief Mohsin Naqvi, also the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman in addition to serving as a minister in the Pakistani government, he left the stadium with the trophy and the physical title been handed to India yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were actually waiting at the ground for one hour. If you look at the TV visuals, you\u2019ll see that I was lying on the ground. Arshdeep Singh was busy making reels. We were just waiting, thinking, \u2018The trophy will come anytime now.\u2019 But the trophy was nowhere to be found,” the 22-year-old said.<\/p>\n

He opened up on the discussion that went on among the players and revealed that around half-a-dozen of the victors agreed to recreate the famous 2024 T20 World Cup triumph, just sans the physical trophy.<\/p>\n

\u201cArshdeep said, let\u2019s create an atmosphere the trophy. we\u2019ll celebrate like we did after the T20 World Cup in 2024, just without the trophy. Abhishek Sharma and five or six others agreed, and we went ahead with it,” he added.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s triumph over Pakistan marked the third instance in the continental event in which the men in blue put it past Pakistan to assert their superiority.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were confident, but cricket is a funny game. If you have one bad day, it\u2019s over. The way I played against Pakistan in the final, I can\u2019t play like that every day,” Varma added reflecting on the game.<\/p>\n
