Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya on Thursday fired back at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over his \u201cI call him Amavasya” jibe, accusing the CM of resorting to personal attacks instead of addressing the state\u2019s governance failures.<\/p>\n

Responding to Siddaramaiah\u2019s remarks that mocked him as \u201cAmavasya”, Surya said the comment reflected the Chief Minister\u2019s desperation and appeasement politics. \u201cThe Chief Minister has been making personal attacks on me, which does not bring repute to his position. The sun shines whether it\u2019s a full moon day or a half moon day. Perhaps, it\u2019s his appeasement towards those who see the moon for their festivity,” the BJP MP said.<\/p>\n

Turning the spotlight on the Congress government\u2019s performance, Surya launched a sharp counterattack, alleging that Bengaluru was plagued by civic chaos and lawlessness under Siddaramaiah\u2019s watch.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is not even one road that is pothole-free. He is incapable of providing even a decent one-kilometre road or a garbage-free city. Recently, there were three rape cases in Bengaluru. Karnataka has lost $15 billion worth of state investment, and the IT minister is busy banning RSS,” he said.<\/p>\n

The exchange comes after Siddaramaiah had earlier targeted BJP MPs from Karnataka, accusing them of remaining silent over the alleged \u201cinjustice” meted out to the state by the Centre.<\/p>\n

During a public address in Bengaluru earlier this week, he had said, \u201cThere\u2019s that MP from the South, Surya, I call him Amavasya, and the other MP, Shobha Karandlaje. They haven\u2019t opened their mouths even once about the injustice to Karnataka.”<\/p>\n

Siddaramaiah\u2019s comments, which drew criticism from BJP leaders, were part of a broader attack in which he accused the Modi government of withholding Karnataka\u2019s due financial allocations and claimed that the BJP\u2019s central leadership was showing \u201cvengeance” against the state after losing power in 2023.<\/p>\n
