YouTube is helping its community fight the deepfake video and voice threat by enabling to see all the suspicious content.<\/h2>\n

YouTube is bringing a new AI tool to help creators fight deepfakes<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

YouTube knows that deepfakes are a big problem, not only for the users but its creators as well. And now the platform is giving them the support to battle this menace and make sure their content or face is not being used for these nefarious purposes. In fact, the platform has now released an AI tool that will help creators detect for any likeness in terms of their face or voice that is being edited into unauthorised content.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But the process that allows them to use the tool is rather rigid and has multiple loops through which YouTube has access to more of their data.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

YouTube Fight Deepfakes But More Data Needed<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The likeness detection tool uses AI to look for content in the background where it can match with a video selfie that all the creators have to provide. That\u2019s not all, YouTube also wants them to give an ID card which is most likely a government-approved ID like Aadhaar or Voter ID for further authorisation. <\/span><\/p>\n

YouTube <\/span>then allows them to access a dashboard where they can see all the videos that the platform marks as AI-generated deepfakes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re not sure why YouTube needs multiple checks to let the creators access such vital content, especially when they already have signed up for an account with the platform. The whole process of onboarding is also quite rigid, which it seems to have in place to avoid scamsters from sneaking through which cannot be denied in this day and age.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

YouTube assures that all the content needed for the approval process will be stored on a Google server after which they can access the AI detention tool and other aspects of the dashboard. <\/span><\/p>\n

The company allows the creators to see the suspected content, and give them the option to either remove the video or get it archived. YouTube will understandably review the video reported and act based on the severity of the issue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AI tools have become a boon and bane and deepfakes are a classic example of the latter. You also have AI helping companies detect other AI content, and that probably is the best way to explain this whole AI-centric narrative these days. While the process is tedious, we hope it can help creators (why only them?) fight the deepfakes and give them the tools to prevent a mishap. <\/span><\/p>\n
