Wondering how much he earned for this legendary role? According to reports, Asrani was paid approximately Rs 15,000 for his brilliant role as the jailer in Sholay. This fee was normal for a supporting actor at the time.<\/p>\n

Dharmendra was paid Rs 1.5 lakh, while Sanjeev Kumar got Rs 1.25 lakh. Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini were paid Rs 1 lakh and Rs 75,000 respectively. \u2018Gabbar Singh\u2019 Amjad Khan reportedly got Rs 50,000 for his role.<\/p>\n

Besides Sholay, Asrani has appeared in over 350 films. He was loved for his perfect comic timing and expressive face in films like Chupke Chupke, Khatta Meetha, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Namak Haraam and Taqdeerwala.<\/p>\n

Asrani passed away on October 20 at the age of 84. The veteran actor breathed his last around 3.30 pm at Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Mumbai\u2019s Juhu after battling age-related complications.<\/p>\n
