West Indies made history by bowling 50 overs of spin in an ODI against Bangladesh, winning by one run in a super over and leveling the series 1-1 in Mirpur.<\/h2>\n

West Indies bowled a complete 50 overs of spin in their second ODI against Bangladesh on Tuesday, making history as the first team to do so in one-day international cricket. The visitors secured victory by one run in a super over, levelling the three-match series at 1-1.<\/p>\n

After restricting Bangladesh to 213 for seven wickets, West Indies matched their score, posting 213\/9 in 50 overs. They then scored 10 runs in the super over to clinch the win.<\/p>\n

Bangladesh Vs West Indies: 2nd ODI \u2013 Highlights<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The match featured a total of 92 overs of spin, setting a new record for an ODI. The previous record was 78 overs.<\/p>\n

Five West Indies spinners each bowled 10 overs, after the team decided to drop pace bowlers Jayden Seales and Romario Shepherd from the starting lineup. Bangladesh had elected to bat first in Mirpur.<\/p>\n

Gudakesh Motie, a left-arm spinner, took three wickets for 65 runs. Alick Athanaze gave away just 14 runs and took two wickets, while Akeal Hosein claimed two wickets for 41 runs.<\/p>\n

Roston Chase conceded 44 runs and Khary Pierre 43 in their 10 overs each, as West Indies opted not to use their only pace bowling option, Justin Greaves.<\/p>\n

This marked the first time a team bowled 50 overs of spin in an ODI, surpassing Sri Lanka\u2019s previous record of 44 overs of slow bowling in a 1996 match.<\/p>\n

The tactic was surprising from a team historically known for its high-quality fast bowlers.<\/p>\n

When Bangladesh bowled, fast-medium bowler Mustafizur Rahman conceded 40 runs in eight overs. The other five home bowlers were spinners.<\/p>\n

Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan said that his side would have won.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believed that if we could get one wicket we can have the game. If we had taken that catch (off the final ball of the game), we would have won,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

West Indies captain Shai Hope, who was adjudged the player of the match, was a happy man after leading his side to a thrilling win.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe always keep the fans on the edge of the seats, very important for us to pull this game off,” he said.<\/p>\n
