Muhurat Trading 2025:<\/strong> As Indian markets prepare for the auspicious Muhurat trading session on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, investors are asking one key question \u2014 how to trade Nifty and Sensex today to kickstart the new Samvat year (Samvat 2082) on a positive and prosperous note.<\/p>\n

The special one-hour Muhurat session, marking the symbolic start of the Hindu financial year, will be held between 1:45 PM and 2:45 PM on both the NSE and BSE, with a pre-open session beginning at 1:30 PM.<\/p>\n

Market trend and history<\/h3>\n

Based on past trends, benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex typically end the Muhurat session with gains. Over the last ten years, the indices have settled lower only twice during this special session. In fact, for the past seven consecutive years, the Nifty 50 has closed higher \u2014 averaging gains of about 0.5%.<\/p>\n

Historically, returns during Muhurat trading have ranged between 0.4% and 0.9%, except for brief declines in 2016 and 2017, when the index slipped 0.1% and 0.6%, respectively. The trend reflects a consistent bullish sentiment during this auspicious hour that marks the beginning of the new Samvat year.<\/p>\n

While volumes remain thin, the mood is typically upbeat, as traders and institutions execute symbolic trades to mark good fortune rather than taking large positions.<\/p>\n

The markets will remain closed on Wednesday, October 22, on account of Balipratipada.<\/p>\n

Outlook for Samvat 2082<\/h3>\n

Samvat 2081 was largely a year of consolidation, with broader markets delivering a modest 1% return between November 2024 and September 2025. Despite subdued performance, the phase laid a foundation for a stronger rally ahead.<\/p>\n

According to Prashanth Tapse, Sr. VP Research and Analyst at Mehta Equities, \u201cAs we step into Samvat 2082, Indian equity markets are well-positioned to deliver stronger returns, supported by multiple tailwinds. A Rs 12 lakh crore tax-free budgetary push and anticipated GST 2.0 reforms are expected to revive consumption and accelerate corporate earnings growth \u2014 particularly the double-digit growth that has been missing for the past few quarters.”<\/p>\n

He added that a potential trade deal between India and the U.S. could further boost exports and strengthen bilateral economic ties.<\/p>\n

On the technical front, analysts at Choice Broking noted that Nifty has been consolidating after a sharp rebound from its support zone. \u201cThis ongoing consolidation is a healthy pause within the broader uptrend and could provide a strategic buying opportunity. The chart structure shows signs of stability, offering a favorable setup for long-term investors,” the brokerage said.<\/p>\n
