Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana suffered an injury during the ongoing Women\u2019s World Cup match against Sri Lanka, as she sustained a blow while keeping the stumps. For the team which is standing on the verge of elimination having won just one game, this might came as a big blow.<\/p>\n

The incident happened in the 47th over of Sri Lanka\u2019s innings when Sultana took an unexpected blow from a rising ball.<\/p>\n

Sultana collapsed on the pitch and was promptly attended to by the team physiotherapist. <\/span>She walked off the field and was replaced by <\/span>Rubya<\/span> Haider as the substitute wicket-keeper.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are locked in a must-win clash, with both sides sitting on two points and two matches in hand. A win is crucial for either team to keep their semi-final hopes alive.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a brilliant spell from <\/span>Shorna<\/span> Akter<\/span> (3\/27) propelled Bangladesh as they bowled out Sri Lanka for a modest 202, despite <\/span>Hasini<\/span> Perera\u2019s<\/span> career-best 85, in their crucial Women\u2019s World Cup clash in Navi Mumbai.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perera<\/span> (85 off 99 balls, 13x4s, 1\u00d76) anchored Sri Lanka\u2019s innings, notching her maiden fifty and building crucial stands with captain <\/span>Chamari<\/span> Athapaththu<\/span> (46) and <\/span>Nilakshika<\/span> Silva (37). <\/span><\/p>\n

However, <\/span>Shorna<\/span> Akter<\/span> stole the show with a brilliant 10-4-27-3 spell. <\/span>Perera\u2019s 85, now her highest ODI score, featured two dropped catches when she was put down on 55 and 63 as well.<\/p>\n

Sri Lanka\u2019s No. 3, <\/span>Perera<\/span>, erred with a sloppy shot late in the innings, missing out on a well-deserved hundred and handing Bangladesh a key chance they seized.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Lanka seemed poised for a commanding first-innings total, but a sudden collapse started when <\/span>Shorna<\/span> dismissed Silva, ending a 74-run fifth-wicket partnership with <\/span>Perera<\/span> that had threatened to put Bangladesh on the back foot.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shorna<\/span> spearheaded Sri Lanka\u2019s collapse, first getting Silva caught at short third in the 32nd over, then sending Anushka <\/span>Sanjeewani<\/span> back to the pavilion with an easy catch.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
