Sensex Today: <\/strong>Indian equities extended their winning streak for the third straight session on Friday, with the benchmarks touching a fresh 52-week high during the day ahead of Diwali.<\/p>\n

At the close, the BSE Sensex settled at 83,952.19, up 484.53 points (0.58%), while the NSE Nifty50 ended at 25,709.85, higher by 124.55 points (0.49%).<\/p>\n

On BSE, Asian Paints, M&M, Bharti Airtel, and HUL were among the top gainers, while Infosys, HCLTech, Eternal, and Tata Steel were among the top laggards.<\/p>\n

Sectorally, Nifty FMCG was the top gainer, up 1.37 per cent. Conversely, Nifty IT and Media slipped 1.63 per cent and 1.56 per cent, respectively.<\/p>\n

However, broader markets underperformed, with the Nifty MidCap 100 and Nifty SmallCap 100 indices slipping 0.57% and 0.05%, respectively.<\/p>\n

Global Cues<\/strong><\/p>\n

Globally, investors are awaiting key macro data \u2014 inflation numbers from the Euro Area and import-export figures from the United States \u2014 while back home, market participants will be watching bank loan growth and foreign exchange reserve data for cues.<\/p>\n

Asian markets traded in the red, mirroring Wall Street\u2019s overnight decline amid renewed banking sector concerns and rising US\u2013China trade tensions. Japan\u2019s Nikkei 225 fell 1 per cent, Australia\u2019s S&P\/ASX 200 slipped 0.60 per cent, and South Korea\u2019s Kospi dropped 0.47 per cent.<\/p>\n

Overnight in the US, major indices ended lower as weakness in regional banks spooked investors. The S&P 500 declined 0.63 per cent, the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.47 per cent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.65 per cent.<\/p>\n
