ChatGPT launched first but Google always had plans to enter the arena<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

ChatGPT changed the industry for good, and AI has now become a household name and companies have even acted on its emergence at some pace. Google was probably going to be the obvious pick to start the AI era but that credit goes to OpenAI with ChatGPT in December 2022 and since then all the tech giants have been shuffling their packs to get the AI house in order. <\/span><\/p>\n

Google has quickly grown in this space and its chief Sundar Pichai has attributed that to its behind the scenes work on Gemini long before ChatGPT was introduced in front of the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Google Was Ready But\u2026<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pichai claims Google was not the first but its work on AI was still going behind the scenes. And the launch of ChatGPT triggered the red alert at the Google base in California, which has given us Gemini in all shapes and sizes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pichai was quoted in a Business Insider<\/em> interview where he shared candid details about the AI strategy and how it took form. \u201cFor me, when ChatGPT launched, contrary to what people outside felt, I was excited because I knew the window had shifted,” he was quoted in the report.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He also mentioned that Google\u2019s work on AI started much before the hype took over the market. But the company decided to bide its time rather than being first with a product that may be half-baked and riddled with mistakes. <\/span><\/p>\n

The focus has been direct but Google did face these issues with a few AI features, which forced Pichai and Co. to publicly accept the mistakes and even apologised for the decisions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since then Google has been quick but cautious with its Gemini AI rollouts and the pace has picked up which is evident with a host of Gemini features available widely. <\/span><\/p>\n

The company is also tempting students to use AI tools with a special Gemini AI offer and other incentives to get more people using the platform. You also cannot ignore the craze around Nano Banana AI image editor which has been used to generate billions of images across the globe in just a few weeks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Where\u2019s Apple?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You get a sense that Google always had planned for the AI rollout and was confident of making it happen. Apple on the other hand is struggling to keep its engineers who are being preyed upon by OpenAI and Meta in the recent months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The company\u2019s Siri AI launch has been delayed, and it was even forced to take down ads that talk about Apple AI features that are yet to release. So the contrast between these two tech giants is obvious but Apple will be hoping that coming last in this race might not be the worst thing at all. <\/span><\/p>\n
